I've lived in California (Northern), Florida and now Nevada. California has some great roads, but given it's physical size it better. It's crowded and the laws in the state make it unfriendly in general. I loved it when I lived there but as soon as I left in '98 I realized just how crappy Californians have it. It's a very automotive enthusiat unfriendly state. Florida is nice. Great weather most of the time. When it does rain it sucks ass though. The roads are long and straight. Nevada is crappy. Long straight roads for the most part (not to say Mt. Charleston and the like don't exist). There is a fine layer of sand on the roads making them slick. Also the 120+ degree road temperatures make things almost unbearable. Add in 91 octane and California esq emissions standards and it sucks. Now I chose North Carolina for many reasons. Although many of the counties have emissions testing some do not. 93 octane at the pumps. Mountains, hills, lakes and rivers. Forest and countryside. And North Carolina has the most miles of maintained roads (dirt and asphault) of any state in the US.
It's lonely at the top, but comforting to look down upon all the people beneath me. |
